INSPIRED

Yesterday I spent a portion of my Sunday afternoon meeting with my February wedding couple at their uber dreamy venue The Alexis Hotel in downtown Seattle.  As we perused the venue and giggled over the endless ideas for creating photos, I thought of this quote by Chuck Palahniuk, "All the effort in the world won't matter if you're not inspired."

Like I mentioned, christina+charlie are my 'February' couple, yes I am doing something a little different for 2013: one wedding a month. After spending the two past years going 'full-time' as a wedding photographer, I've also managed to go fuller-than-full time into creating+running Cozbi Jean Photography.  Being a full-time photographer is fabulous until you learn what you can only learn with experience, this little thing called limits...  maybe you've heard of them?  Well, let's just say that shooting+editing+being a business woman these past couple of years has amounted to what I feel is a decade of useful knowledge on some good do's and don'ts in this biz and industry.  So this year I wanted to take a step back and really focus.  I wanted to work with a select group of couples that I felt that I personally could sincerely relate and connect with and honestly be earnestly inspired by.  I wanted to be able to slow down and really take my time.  I realized that just as Palahniuk states, it doesn't matter how hard you try, if you're not utterly inspired then none of it will matter, and I've come to discern that I think by slowing down I'll be able to create work that means even more to my couples and even more to me.

This past Saturday I shot my first wedding of 2013 and the day was a bit of a whirlwind day and after meeting with christina+charlie on Sunday, I am much more aware of what needs to change in my day-of process to help me; and ultimately help you as the couple.  I'm thrilled! It's exciting to meet with your revelations isn't it? Well, I suppose only sometimes...
